200+ CrossFit Affiliates, One Weekend: What We Learned Sponsoring the CrossFit Summit in Spain

Athlete landing a box jump in The Nude Foot barefoot shoes - CrossFit Summit Spain

This weekend, more than 200 CrossFit affiliates from every corner of Spain got into the same room. Box owners. Head coaches. The people who open the doors at 6 a.m., write the programming, fix the rower, and still find the energy to cheer the last athlete through the final rep. The Nude Foot was there as one of the sponsors of the CrossFit Summit in Spain — and we left with one clear feeling: this community is the strongest it has ever been.

This isn't a recap of who stood on stage. It's what we took home, and why it matters for every athlete training in a Spanish box right now.

200+ CrossFit Affiliates, One Community

Two hundred affiliates is not a number. It's thousands of members behind every owner in that room. It's small-town boxes and big-city gyms. It's coaches who've been doing this for fifteen years sitting next to people who opened their first affiliate last year.

What connects all of them is simple: they are in the business of making people healthier. Not prettier. Not thinner for a photo. Stronger, more mobile, more capable for the rest of their lives. That is the most health-driven audience in European fitness — and that is exactly why The Nude Foot exists.

CrossFit in Spain has grown up. The Summit proved it. Owners are talking about retention, coaching quality, long-term athlete health and community — not just the next competition. That shift matters.

Why a Barefoot Shoe Brand Belongs at a CrossFit Summit

Our story started in a box. Our founder began CrossFit in Spain back in 2010, long before it was everywhere. Years of squats, deadlifts, double-unders and box jumps led to one uncomfortable question: why do we train our whole body to move naturally, and then lock our feet inside narrow, cushioned, raised shoes?

Your feet are your foundation. Every lift, every jump, every run starts from the ground up. When the foundation is compressed, lifted and numbed, everything above it has to compensate — ankles, knees, hips, lower back.

That's why sponsoring the CrossFit Summit in Spain wasn't a marketing decision for us. It was coming home.

What Coaches Already Know About Feet

Talk to any experienced coach and you'll hear the same things. Athletes with stiff ankles. Knees caving on landings. Balance that disappears on single-leg work. Arches that collapse in a heavy squat.

Most of these problems don't start at the knee. They start at the foot. A foot that has spent years in conventional footwear loses strength, loses sensation and loses its ability to spread and grip.

Barefoot shoes give that ability back:

  • Zero drop — heel and forefoot at the same height, so your posture stays natural under the bar.
  • Wide toe box — toes spread, big toe anchors, the base gets wider and more stable.
  • Thin, flexible sole — you feel the floor, and your brain gets the information it needs to balance and react.

Zero drop. Wide toe box. Thin sole. It's not a trend. It's how feet are built.

Built for the Box: One Shoe for Every WOD

CrossFit throws everything at your feet in one hour. Olympic lifts, rope climbs, burpees, box jumps, a 400-metre run out the door and back. Conventional shoes force a choice: stable for lifting, or cushioned for running. Never both.

A barefoot training shoe doesn't make you choose. A flat, firm base keeps you rooted when the barbell is heavy. A flexible sole lets your foot work naturally when you run, jump and land. One shoe, the whole WOD.

That's the conversation we love having with coaches — because they see the difference in their athletes before anyone else does.

Foot Health Is Athlete Health

The best affiliates in Spain are thinking long term. They want members training at 40, 50 and 60 — not burned out by 35. Foot health is a huge part of that, and it's the part most people ignore.

Strong feet mean better balance, fewer ankle rolls, more stable knees and a lower back that isn't paying for problems further down. A few minutes a week of foot mobility and strength work — rolling the plantar fascia, band work for the ankle, toe-spreading drills — changes how athletes move. It's the reason we built The Feet Health Kit: roller, fascia ball, resistance band and cork inserts, everything to fix your feet in one kit.

Thank You, Spanish CrossFit Community

To every affiliate owner, coach and athlete who came to the Summit: thank you. For the conversations, for the questions about barefoot training, for the honesty about what your athletes need, and for building the community that made us start this brand in the first place.

If you're a box owner and want your members training in The Nude Foot, send us a message on Instagram @thenudefoot. We work with affiliates across Spain.

We'll see you at the next one. Barefoot, of course.
